Pinot Noir
2006 Pinot Noir ‑
Opens with sweet aromas of cherry and plum and distinct "classic' earthy edge. Breaths to reveal more perfumed, floral aromas with some spice. Palate is lively initially with some sappy fruit on the mid‑palate. The finish is beautifully textured with ultra‑fine tannin structure. Two to five years bottle aging is recommended. Cellar 2‑5 years.
2007 Pinot Noir ‑
Colour: Vivid, bright garnet‑ruby red.
Bouquet: Intense fruit confectionary and liqueur aromas of cherry and blackberry, with complexing chocolate and classic earthy characters.
Palate: Rich and luscious ‑ this vintage definitely shows more fruit concentration than all previous vintages. There is good acid freshness to balance the sweet cherry dominant fruit. There are touches of spice tobacco and cedar on the finish ‑ varietal characters that become more prominent on extended breathing and that will also intensify with bottle age.
Cellaring: This is not a wine that demands bottle age ‑ its youthful richness of fruit makes it very drinkable right now. However, underneath all of the "sappy", juicy fruit flavours, there is fine tannin structure which will provide the framework for bottle development. The wine can be expected to soften and develop more savoury, earthy, gamy characters with age. Two to five years bottle ageing is recommended.
Pinot Rosé
2009 Pinot Rosé -
The winter chores are made seemingly less arduous by our visiting Scarlet Robin. His family keeps us company while we're pruning.
Colour: Salmon-pink.
Bouquet: Sweet aromas of fresh strawberries with subtle hints of honey and lime – very fragrant.
Palate: The honeyed fruit sweetness continues on the luscious palate. The finish is soft, round and delightfully refreshing – providing uncomplicated easy drinking.
Cellaring: This is not a wine that requires bottle age – drink it this summer and autumn.
Food Matches: It will serve ideally as a companion to mildly spicy Asian cuisine, seafood and chicken salads, as well as soft cheeses.
